EVO Expert Rotational Viscometer provides rapid measurements of medium viscosity samples. When testing in accordance with ASTM D4402 and AASHTO T316 standards, the LP-35 measurements can be used to determine the mixing and compaction temperatures of asphalt. It also estimates binder flow, mix, and performance characteristics in varying climatic conditions. A rotating spindle is placed in an asphalt binder heated to precisely controlled temperatures using the Thermosphere Set. The spindle torque and speed are then used to measure the binder’s apparent viscosity.
The LP-35 features a 4.5x2.5in (114x63.5mm) color LCD touchscreen display that allows for fast data recognition and precise, one-touch control. The user interface supports 10 language options. The included Data Boss Software for Windows provides complete computer control of the EVO Expert via Bluetooth or the USB cable, allowing for the fast design of experiments. Additional versatility is offered with the EVO App, which allows control of the EVO Expert from an Android tablet. Data Boss software provides plug and plays viscometer support and an intuitive, customizable interface. Users can quickly define test parameters, view real-time graphical and numeric data, and export data in multiple formats. Built-in math models quickly analyze test data for comparison to common equations.
Displayed data includes selected speed, selected spindle, viscosity reading in cP or mPa/s, percentage of full scale, sample temperature in °C or °F, shear rate, and shear stress (with coaxial spindles), and user-defined density. The auto-range feature shows maximum viscosity measured with any spindle/speed combination.
User-defined step, ramp, and multi-step curves can be programmed, and a powerful graph key helps the user to design the flow curves needed. Up to four flow curves can be compared simultaneously, and over twelve different charts can be produced. The software also allows the documentation of each experiment with a name, date/time stamp, user, and notes for performing follow-up experiments. The data logger function allows data to be transferred in a spreadsheet format to a PC or sent directly to a local printer via the USB drive.
