Fritsch Mortar Grinder is a versatile laboratory grinder suitable for grinding hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle, fibrous, and abrasive materials, and is capable of wet and dry grinding and mixing. The pestle grinds the material against the walls and bottom of the mortar bowl at 70–80rpm, reducing material size through pressure and friction.
Maximum feed size is 8mm, sample quantity is 10–190mL, and final fineness is 10–20µm. The downward pestle pressure on the mortar bowl can be adjusted for reproducible results. The mortar bowl and pestle securely lock in place and can be quickly removed for cleaning. The grinding chamber is illuminated with LED lights, and a large acrylic window permits viewing during the grinding process.
Mortar bowls are rimmed in a robust shell of shock-resistant plastic to protect the bowl and ensure optimum working conditions. A variety of bowl materials are available for contamination-free grinding, including agate, sintered corundum, hardmetal tungsten carbide, hardened steel, hard porcelain, zirconium oxide, and stainless steel.
A Grinding Set is required to operate the Mortar Grinder and is purchased separately.
