Gilson Rotary Sifters maintain the traditional design favored by many state departments for aggregate gradation while featuring modern enhancements. Built with upgraded materials and manufacturing methods, these high-quality sifters are quieter, safer, and more durable. They ensure efficient operation and extended service life, all while maintaining strict compliance with specification requirements.
The SS-20 performs accurate particle size testing on construction aggregates and other granular materials in the 1in–No.635 (25mm–20µm) size range. Adjust between 8in to 200mm or 12in to 300mm diameter test sieves by simply turning a spring-loaded knob and repositioning the turntable. Sieve stack capacity ranges from six 12in or 300mm diameter full-height sieves with a pan or up to twenty 8in or 200mm diameter half-height sieves with a pan.
No clamping is required. Simply place the sieve stack in the cabinet, close the door, tilt the cabinet to test position, and press start. The test sieves are continuously rotated by rubber-covered stainless-steel drive rollers, and particle separation is aided by mechanical hammers tapping against each sieve.
The totally enclosed cabinet is constructed of a high-quality CNC machined MDF board, precisely fitted to confine and control airborne respirable quartz, silica, crystalline particles, and other nuisance dust. The full-width door is attached with heavy-duty commercial-grade hinges to permit easy handling of the sieve stack. The cabinet is mounted on a sturdy, powder-coated stand constructed of heavy ASTM A513 steel tubing. Test sieves and drive mechanisms are enclosed by the cabinet for safe operation.
An ergonomically positioned side knob allows for easy tilting of the cabinet between loading and testing positions. A door safety interlock switch stops the sifter if the door is opened during testing and resets the timer. Tapping hammer assemblies are 6061 aluminum alloy with Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene heads. A dependable 1/4hp continuous-duty motor drives the system. Bearing and rod safety covers eliminate exposed moving parts below the cabinet for greater compliance with OSHA regulations.
The digital countdown timer has a large and bright 0.5in (12.7mm) LED display. It precisely controls operation up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds at ±1sec, ensuring consistent repeatability. The timer features a pause function allowing the test cycle to be suspended and resumed with no loss of test time and an easy operation. Settings are saved between test cycles, and the timer sounds with a 5-second audible alarm at completion.
