Fritsch Vibratory Micro Mill uses a mortar and grinding ball to mill and homogenize small samples. It is the ideal laboratory ball mill for medium-hard, brittle, moist, or temperature-sensitive samples either dry or in suspension, as well as homogenizing emulsions and pastes.
Grinding balls are available in several materials with a 70mm diameter. A 50mm diameter agate ball is also available. The ball first crushes large particles by impact, then takes on a tumbling motion for finer grinding through friction. The final fineness is 10µm, depending on the material. Maximum feed size is 5mm and maximum sample quantity is 10mL. Grinding bowls achieve 3,000–3,600 oscillations per minute at 1–3mm amplitude. The Vibratory Micro Mill has an adjustable vibration amplitude to control the impact force of the ball, allowing the ball to be precisely adapted to each sample.
Performance is quiet and efficient with little transfer of vibration to the lab bench. The pulverizer head with a clear acrylic observation cover hermetically seals to the mortar chamber to prevent dry sample loss or to permit wet milling.
Mortar and Grinding Balls for the Vibratory Micro Mill are required for operation and must be purchased separately. Mortars are available in agate, sintered corundum, zirconium oxide, hardened stainless steel, and hardened tungsten carbide. 70mm grinding balls are available in agate, sintered corundum, zirconium oxide, hardened stainless steel, and hardened tungsten carbide. A 50mm ball in agate is also available.
