BC-250 Series Basic Concrete Compression Machines are manually operated models that perform complete strength tests for concrete cylinders, beams, cubes, cores, and grout prisms. The versatility and cost-effectiveness of these models make them ideal for many concrete strength testing applications.
The rugged, welded steel frame with solid steel crossheads exceeds ACI 363 requirements for system rigidity. The integrated electric motor and hydraulic pump system operate at variable speeds to achieve and maintain the pressures required for the test procedure. The energy-efficient configuration reduces heat buildup and extends the service life of the hydraulic components.
The Windows-based human-machine interface (HMI) controller allows the selection of test protocol, displays test data, and prints or transfers the data at test completion. Force, stress, and rate of load are displayed during a test, with the option to show real-time graphing of load vs time or stress vs strain. The controller is also used for machine setup, calibration, and diagnostic functions.
Basic Compression Machines are compatible with Gilson Guardian Cloud Sharing Application, purchased separately, which enables cloud storage and data management. Seamlessly communicate project information and retain detailed testing data for every test.
For compressive strength testing with the Basic Series Machines, the operator controls the load application. Initial loading is performed by using full advance of the four-position lever valve to seat the cylinder and quickly apply the preload of less than half the cylinder’s expected compressive strength. After preloading, the operator manually switches the valve to the metered position for fine control and adjustment to the load rate. The controller records the maximum compressive strength when the load applied drops below the preset percentage of the peak load.
Safety features include a hydraulic safety relief valve to prevent loading beyond machine capacity and a travel limit switch that stops the piston from advancing beyond limits. Hinged fragment guard doors latch securely and are made from clear Lexan™ to enhance safety while still permitting the operator to view the sample during testing.
Units are supplied ready for compression testing of 6x12in (152.4x304.8mm) concrete cylinders with user-supplied unbonded neoprene capping pads and steel retainers. The standard frame may be outfitted with accessories to accommodate testing of additional cylinder sizes, beams, cubes, cores, and grout prisms. Units operate on 110V, 60Hz. Add “F” suffix to the model number for 220V, 50/60Hz operation.
