Basic Concrete Compression Machines

Gilson Basic Concrete Compression Machines are manually operated and perform complete compressive strength tests for concrete cylinders, beams, cubes, cores, grout prisms, and other samples. Also known as Standard Concrete Compression Machines, these cost-effective units are incredibly versatile, feature a rugged design, and are ideal for many concrete strength testing applications.

Multiple models are available with different maximum capacities to accommodate your compression testing needs and provide accurate, repeatable test results that meet the requirements of ASTM or AASHTO standard test methods.

Use the chart below to compare test standards, total capacity, maximum psi (kPa), daylight opening, and dimensions between the different Basic Compression Machine models.

Basic Concrete Compression Testing Machines are equipped with an easy-to-use human-machine interface (HMI) controller that allows users to enter test protocol, view force, stress, and rate of load, and print or transfer test data. Live graphing data of load vs time or stress vs strain can also be viewed during testing.

The frame is designed with solid steel crossheads and exceeds the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 363 industry standard recommendations for stiffness. Safety features include an emergency stop button, hinged fragment guard doors that securely latch for operator safety, and more.

Basic units are supplied ready for compression testing of 6x12in (152.4x304.8mm) concrete cylinders with user-supplied unbonded neoprene capping pads and steel retainers. Cylinder Test sets are available as accessories to adapt Gilson Basic or Automatic Concrete Compression Machines to test various sizes of concrete cores or cylinders with unbonded neoprene pads, bonded sulfur mortar caps, or ground ends. Other accessories adapt these compression machines to perform tests on various concrete specimen sizes for flexural strength of beams, splitting tensile strength of cylinders, and compressive strength determinations for cubes and grout prisms.

Gilson Guardian Cloud Sharing Application makes it possible to track field samples from casting through completion. This software can be added to any Gilson Automatic or Basic Compression Machine and enhances the data collection and transfer process of concrete compression testing. The geographic placement of specimens in the field can be marked with GPS coordinates, and a unique QR code can be attached to specimens to view test data on the HMI screen with a simple scan.

Automatic Controller Retrofits easily upgrades a Basic Compression Machine to a fully automatic system. Retrofits are compatible with any Gilson Basic or Manual Compression Machine.
